The road is clear.

In early December, the Wānaka-Mt Aspiring Road north of the Treble Cone access road near Glenfinnan Stream will close while Downer work to construct a retaining wall in the area.

Key details are:

• The road will be closed on weekdays between 9.00am-12.00pm and 1.00pm-5.00pm from Monday December 2 to Friday December 13.
• Residents and anyone else expecting to head through the closure point should plan ahead and either travel before or after the closure times, or during the midday window when this section of road is open.
• One 24 hour closure will also be required on Monday December 9, but resident access will be maintained during this time.

About Mt Aspiring Road

This road from Wānaka to Raspberry Creek car park at the Mt Aspiring National Park. The road is 54km long and takes about an hour to drive. The last 30km is unsealed and the last 10km is a fine weather road only with a number of streams to cross.

4WD vehicles are recommended however if it has been dry then 2WD vehicles will comfortably make this journey. Transport services are available in Wānaka. See the Wānaka i-Site on the lake front for information.
