9 km to the hut. 2 hr one way.
Mount Aspiring National Park hosts a wonderful mixture of remote wilderness, high mountains and beautiful river valleys. It's a walker's paradise and a must for mountaineers.
The West Matukituki Track will take you to Aspiring Hut. This is a great 9 km overnight tramp for families with children. It leads to French Ridge and Liverpool Hut Tracks.
The track starts at Raspberry Creek car park, 54km west of Wānaka on the Wānaka-Mount Aspiring Road. From the car park the track covers mostly grasses flats. There are a few easily navigated small bluffs that give great views up and down the valley. Please leave all farm gates the way you find them. From Aspiring Hut there are multiple tracks that continue further into Mount Aspiring, see the DOC website above for further information.
