A four-year-old Albert Town boy is among four finalists in a competition to select the photograph for the front of the Fish & Game 2022 fishing licence.

Hudson Fahey’s delighted grin has made him the frontrunner in the online competition, which ends tomorrow night (Thursday May 12) at 5pm.

“This was the very first fish he caught and reeled in all by himself,” Hudson’s mother Melissa Morden told the Wānaka App.

“[We] couldn’t wipe that smile from his face if we tried,” she said.

The photo with the most ‘likes’ on Fish & Game’s Facebook page will win the competition and appear on the upcoming licenses. 

Hudson’s photo had close to 500 likes by Wednesday afternoon, while the other three finalists lagged behind.

“It’s got it all, the fish, and the joy of having caught it all in one photo,” read one Facebook comment on the photo, while another called it “the future of fishing”.
