Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) has granted Greenstone Entertainment GP Limited resource consent to hold up to three one-day events each year over a five-year period at the Three Parks Outdoor Arena in Wānaka - paving the way for new large-scale music events in the district.
The consent covers the annual Wānaka Summer Concert in January and up to two additional events between December and April, allowing crowds of up to 30,000 people.
This week the company confirmed that Iggy Pop, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Hoodoo Gurus, and Zed will headline next year’s Wānaka Summer Concert.

Greenstone Entertainment director Dean Calvert said the team was “delighted” with the outcome of the resource consent application and the options for entertainment it provides.

“We’re looking at other artists at the moment, with completely different styles, so we’re not going to put on three rock concerts,” he said.
“The single-artist, bigger headline show is definitely what we’re pursuing,” he said.
