Upper Clutha surpasses 90% fully vaccinated90 percent of Albert Town’s eligible population is now fully vaccinated.

Cardrona Valley and Albert Town have joined Wānaka township with more than 90 percent of their eligible population fully vaccinated according to the latest data released by the Ministry of Health.


The data shows that the Upper Clutha’s eligible population is now 90 percent fully vaccinated, consistent with the Southern District Health Board (SDHB) which announced it had achieved the 90 percent milestone on Wednesday (December 8).



Rural areas including Luggate, Hāwea Flat and north of Albert Town (but excluding Lake Hāwea) are 81 percent fully vaccinated with 87 percent of the eligible population having had one dose.


Lake Hāwea is 84 percent fully vaccinated; and 89 percent have received one dose.

The traffic light system came into effect last Friday (December 3) with the Upper Clutha on the Orange setting. Prime minister Jacinda Ardern said a review of the traffic light settings will take place on Monday December 13 with any change to the settings (at that time) to be in place for one month with a review in the week of Monday January 17, 2022.



Under the Orange setting face coverings are mandatory on public transport, in taxis, retail and public venues.


Many businesses and events will require proof of full vaccination (vaccine certificate) upon entry.

From Wednesday December 15 people travelling out of Auckland will need to be fully vaccinated, or have a negative test 72 hours prior to departure. This requirement will remain in place during the core summer period, until January 17, 2022.
