The Swim Run series has a range of events for all ages.TriWanaka’s five-week Swim Run series gets underway in Wānaka this evening (Friday January 9), kicking off the new season at the Wānaka Watersports Facility.
The Friday night series is designed for all ages and abilities, running weekly through to Waitangi Day (February 6).
TriWanaka president Craig Nieper said the series was a key way for the club to welcome new people into the sport.
“This event definitely caters for people who are just starting out in triathlon right through to people who want to race hard.”
Craig said there would be plenty of support on hand for first-timers, with different race lengths offered to suit varying abilities and fitness levels.
He said the Swim Run series was also an “ideal lead-in to the Ruby Swim and Challenge Wānaka”, giving locals the chance to build confidence and fitness in a relaxed, social setting before moving on to larger events.
The first of the five Swim Run events starts tonight, with registration opening at 5pm and racing beginning at 6pm.
More information about the series, including event details and how to enter, is available on the TriWanaka website.
