Three earthquakes struck near Haast this morning (Thursday March 6), with magnitudes ranging from 3.4 to 4.7.
According to GeoNet, the quakes occurred in the same location 10km south-east of Haast, beginning at 7.37am with a 4.6 magnitude quake, followed by a 4.7 magnitude tremor at 7.49am and a 3.4 magnitude quake at 7.58am.
Upper Clutha residents have reported feeling the tremors.
There have been no reports of damage.
GeoNet has classified the largest quake as ‘moderate’.
