Wānaka father and daughter duo Jarrod and Zoe Frazer will represent Team Lake Wānaka in this year's Pork Pie Charity Run fundraiser beginning on March 31.
The run, inspired by iconic Kiwi film ‘Goodbye Pork Pie’, has become a popular event for MINI car enthusiasts with 50 teams travelling from Paihia to Invercargill to raise funds for KidsCan.
Jarrod told The Outlet Podcast this will be his third time entering the event.
“We know it’s going to be a memorable six days, a lot of travelling, and plenty of fundraising and a whole heap of fun,” he said
“Last time we [the run] raised over $320,000.”
Jarrod said Team Lake Wānaka’s fundraising is off to a good start with $3,000 raised against a goal of $5,000.
“It would be great if as many Upper Clutha locals can get on board with us and make a donation,” he said.
“KidsCan New Zealand has set up a ‘Gofundraising’ web page for each team, so all funds donated go directly to KidsCan NZ.”
The pair will drive their 42-year-old MINI on the 3,000 kilometre run which Jarrod says has a few new comforts but no heater.
“Hopefully it makes it,” he said.
KidsCan believes education is a child’s ticket out of poverty and supports more than 200,000 children in 900 schools and early childhood centres across New Zealand.
