More than 160,000 passengers are expected to travel through the Queenstown Airport terminal during the school holidays (July 10-25).

Peak travel days in terms of aircraft movements will be July 23 and 24, with 72 and 73 scheduled aircraft movements (arrivals and departures) respectively, the Queenstown Airport Corporation (QAC) said in a statement.

QAC said the busier holiday period is a good opportunity to promote the golden rules of Covid-19 and to ‘make winter unstoppable’, which includes reminding others and remembering to scan in using the Covid-19 app when we are out and about, ensure Bluetooth is enabled and follow appropriate hygiene protocols.

Construction is underway in the terminal building to complete a range of improvements to the departures processing area, “which will ultimately enhance the passenger screening process and airport security”, QAC said. Changes will include the introduction of body scanners.
