The Luggate Memorial Hall has finally been felled.
The hall was demolished by digger on Monday (July 12).
One onlooker said it was amazing that it took not much more than ten minutes to tear down something that had stood for almost 70 years.

The hall, which was designed by J.G.Wilson, opened its doors in 1954.
It was well used by the community and became a well known regional venue for events. It was particularly notable for its excellent acoustics for singing groups.

The hall was decommissioned in 2017 after it failed a seismic assessment.
Breen Construction began work on the new Luggate Memorial Centre in May. It will be the first community facility built to passive house standards.
