Parade will celebrate Wānaka snowsports starsZoi Sadowski-Synnott is one of four local athletes who will be part of a Snow Sports parade in Wānaka next Sunday.

To celebrate the achievements of Snow Sports NZ’s athletes over the past six months, the organisation is hosting a parade in Wānaka on Sunday May 22.

 

The parade, which will start at midday in the centre of Wānaka on Ardmore Street, will feature high achieving athletes including Zoi Sadowski-Synnott, Nico Porteous, Adam Hall and Corey Peters. 



The event will include music, face painting, spot prizes and opportunities for signatures as it celebrates the Snow Sports NZ athletes’ successes.

 

“The team have surpassed themselves with a historic 31 podium positions on the global stage, with 16 of these being gold medals or top spots in international competition,” a Snow Sports NZ representative said.



The parade will run along Ardmore Street and into the lakefront car park, winding its way up to the Lake Wānaka Centre.

 

Athletes will be available for a signing opportunity and free posters will be provided for children to collect their favourite sportsperson’s signature. 

 

There will be music from Mount Aspiring College band the Powder Chutes at the Lake Wānaka Centre, and spot prizes up for grabs, as well as prizes for the best painted face - with the theme being Snow Sports. 



The free event will run until approximately 2pm.

 

The celebration parade is expected to attract sporting fans young and old, whānau and friends, all to cheer the athletes’ and acknowledge their successes.
