New deputy chair for QACMike Tod

Queenstown Airport Corporation’s (QAC) board of directors has a new deputy chair.

Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) has approved the election of existing director Mike Tod to the position.

Councillors agreed to authorise mayor Glyn Lewers and chief executive Mike Theelen to sign a shareholder resolution proposing Mike’s appointment at a council meeting last month.

QAC subsequently confirmed the election of Mike at its meeting later in the month.

“Mike’s contribution to QAC’s governance over the last four years makes him an excellent choice for deputy chair and I congratulate him on his election,” Glyn said.

The position became vacant after former deputy chair Simon Flood was elected to the position of chair in October last year.

Mike, who joined the board in October 2020, has experience of global aviation across key markets.

He is a former member of the Star Alliance Marketing Committee and a current Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Queenstown Airport is a council-controlled trading organisation (CCTO) with two shareholders - Queenstown Lakes District Council (75.01 per cent) and Auckland Airport (24.99 per cent).

It is managed by QAC and governed by a board of directors.
