Wānaka-Luggate Highway/State Highway 8 is closed near Wānaka Airport following a four-vehicle crash this afternoon (Monday February 9).

A police spokesperson said emergency services received reports at around 2.30pm of a crash near the intersection of Stevenson Road and the highway.

Hone Hato St John said one ambulance, one PRIME responder, and two helicopters responded to the accident.

“One patient, in moderate condition, has been airlifted to Dunedin Hospital,” a St John spokesperson said.

“Two further patients, both in minor condition, were assessed and treated at the scene.”

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) said the accident is causing delays for traffic in the area and emergency services are providing directions at the site.
