Farewell to three people lost in Wānaka’s outdoors Ki Tahu iwi representatives leading a poroporoaki on Monday.

Ki Tahu iwi representatives led a poroporoaki on Monday (March 10) to farewell three people who all died while in the outdoors in the Wānaka area last month.


The ceremony, for the friends and family of the three, was also attended by Wānaka Police, Wānaka Search & Rescue and the Department of Conservation.



The people remembered were: Hector Gaston Artigau (who was last seen near Rob Roy stream), Maelle Favergros (who fell on Mt Brewster), and Claire Connell (who was found in Timaru River).

The bodies of Claire and Maelle were recovered but Hector, who is believed to be located in one of the deep pools in the canyon, has not been recovered.
