A scrub fire fanned by strong north west winds is being attended to by emergency services this afternoon.
The fire is located between Glendhu Bay and the Treble Cone turnoff at Emerald Bay.
Emergency services were called out around 2pm and Fire and Emergency shift manager Lyn Crosson said a number of appliances and four helicopters were responding.
The Wānaka Mt Aspiring Road has been closed at Glendhu Bay while emergency services fight the fire, with Lyn requesting for members of the public to stay away.
“The road will be closed,” Lyn said.
“We want resources getting through into there which will make our job easier.”
