Crimeline

I can’t think of the last time I wrote the Crimeline.

So what happened over the last two weeks you ask?

We dealt with a large fight on Ardmore Street on Saturday night (April 22) around 11pm. I would love to hear from anyone who was not involved and can give a sober witness account of the incident.

We dealt with more shoplifting this week. The apprehension team at New World and Mitre10 are doing a great job of finding offences and forwarding excellent footage and information for us to locate the offenders. Shoplifting is theft. Those who steal are thieves. Who would ever think it is reasonable to steal from someone? If you think you have seen someone acting suspiciously bring it to the attention of a store person.

We attended some more crashes in the last two weeks at bridge number two on the Crown Range Road in the wet.

These crashes are all too common. We are trying to get the council to review that section of road and what needs to be done to reduce harm and crashes in this location.

A large-scale operation targeting drugs was actioned. It was highly successful with a large number of illegal substances and firearms. A number of arrests have been made.

There was a vehicle on Kings Drive wilfully damaged this week with its wing mirrors torn off. If you know who may have done this let us know.

We are currently investigating a burglary to a business in which the offenders have caused a considerable amount of damage by setting a fire. Enquiries are continuing.

We dealt with a number of search and rescue jobs this week. It is essential that you are well prepared if going into the mountains or away from cell coverage and leave a detailed plan with someone. If I am looking for you and your safe person doesn’t know where you were going or when you would be back how likely is it that we will find you?

We charged a person for sending offensive messages to another person. If I can give advice in relation to sending messages when you are upset or emotional, I would say write your message and then sleep on it then read it in the morning and see if you think it is still the best way to say what you want to say.

Other than that have a great couple of weeks until our next Crimeline. Enjoy the colours of the leaves and the amazing sunsets and try and do a good deed for a stranger.

Thanks all. Stay safe.
