Update from Aurora at 4pm:
Aurora has confirmed a fault in a transformer and switch unit in Brownston Street caused this morning’s power outage.
“The fault caused oil to leak inside the transformer and the safety mechanisms operated as expected,” Aurora customer and engagement manager Lisa Gloag said.
While some people reported a loud bang, Aurora Energy advised there was no fire.
