A man missing in Lake Wakatipu was yesterday (Saturday January 14) located deceased by the Police National Dive Squad.

The divers recovered the man’s body at around 3pm.

He had entered the water near Glenorchy on Friday afternoon to help another person, but then failed to exit the water himself.

Emergency services were scrambled at about 3pm on Friday and a number of boats and two helicopters swept over the lake trying to find the man.

The man’s death will be referred to the Coroner.
