The period-style home is perched on hilly Stone Street.
This week’s Property Snoop has already been seen by many, after featuring on My Kitchen Rules New Zealand last year.
This extravagant house perched on a hill on Stone Street was the site for Wanaka duo Chris and Bex’s ‘Instant Restaurant’ round on the popular TV series. The pair went on to win the series - and Chris (who doubles as a real estate agent alongside his foodie ventures) is the agent who has listed the home.
The home was appealing for the cooking series because of its set-up which is perfect for formal dining. It has a generous kitchen featuring granite work tops, where Chris and Bex made their impressive chicken liver parfait, and a grand dining room where the guests and hosts were fed.
Where the action happens: MKR contestants Chris and Bex used this kitchen to produce an impressive three-course meal.
What the viewer didn’t see much of on the show was the extraordinary views this property affords. The large home has sweeping views of Wanaka township, the lake and surrounding mountains, with many lake-facing windows looking out at the spectacular view.
It’s an entertainer’s home: as well as the chef-ready kitchen and formal dining, this house has two living rooms, with a snooker room and bar, and an expansive outdoor balcony and front lawn for entertaining.
A long, second-floor balcony with dramatic balustrades enhances the property’s vistas.
You’d never be short of visitors living here, and with four bedrooms, three bathrooms and four toilets, there will always be room for guests.
Period details can be found throughout, from the double-storey home’s striking exterior to the interior which features an open fireplace with marble surround, elegant coving and solid timber joinery.
The interior is loud: with yellow, red and green walls and equally bright curtains to match, but there’s plenty of room to make this home your own.
One of the home’s lounges, which combines period details with bright colours.
Like all the best houses, it’s the property’s liveability, functionality and careful consideration of its site, maximising lake views, that make this property special.
