ZZ Top to headline GibbstonThe Gibbston Valley Concert is back in 2023

ZZ Top will headline the Gibbston Valley Winery Summer Concert next February, supported by Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, Stone Temple Pilots and The Angels.

The concert tour, which also visits Taupo and Whitianga is back for 2023 after cancelling this year due to Covid-19 border restrictions.

"It’s been a tough couple of years for everyone, and we can’t wait to play our small part in bringing back live entertainment to our fans and to give them something to look forward to in the summer of 2023,” Greenstone Entertainment CEO Amanda Calvert said.

"We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone along for an awesome afternoon of classic rock in February next year.”

It’ll mark 35 years since ZZ TOP played their epic New Zealand show where they performed to a crowd of over 80,000 at Western Springs in 1987.

The Texan Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, synonymous with beards, hot rod cars and spinning guitar, are famous for their mix of rock, blues, and boogie.

Sharp Dressed Man, Gimme All Your Lovin’, Legs and La Grange are among the instantly recognisable hits that made them hugely popular around the world and in New Zealand.

Albums Eliminator and Afterburner between them spent over two years on the New Zealand Charts.

They're joined on the bill by fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, power couple Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, who have had no less than 14 songs in the NZ Top 50 singles chart.

Hits such as Heartbreaker, Love Is a Battlefield and We Belong, had concert attendees dancing in the valley back in 2013, when they last performed at the Summer Concert Tour.

Stone Temple Pilots will bring some 90s flavour to the tour, with hits including Interstate Love Song, Plush and Vaseline, all of which have featured in the NZ singles charts through the mid 90’s.

And The Angels, originally scheduled to perform at the 2021 Summer Concert Tour, complete the bill. They lay claim to being one of Australia’s longest lasting bands, dating as far back as 1976 when they first released Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again. Take A Long Line and No Secrets are also sure to be blasted out.

The Gibbston Valley concert is on Saturday February 11 at the Gibbston Valley Winery.
