Zoi wins second gold at X GamesZoi Sadowski-Synnott

Wanaka snowboarder Zoi Sadowski-Synnott has taken gold at X Games Norway.

The second and final day of X Games Norway at Hafjell Alpinsenter was a slopestyle showdown, featuring snowboard slopestyle competitions where Zoi came out on top.

“She showed technical prowess in the rails at the top of the course with combos like her backside bluntslide to backside 180 sameway and her boardslide pretzel, both in run one,” an X Games representative said.

“Her switch backside double cork 900 stalefish in run three was the biggest trick of the contest. She took an early lead in run one and never gave it up, with top-to-bottom runs in three of her four passes.”

Second place went to Kokomo Murase (Japan) and third to Brooke Voigt (Canada).

The men’s snowboard slopestyle was won by Max Parrot (Canada), second by Mark McMorris (Canada) and third by Ståle Sandbech (Norway).

Zoi won gold in the same event at X Games Aspen in January last year while also taking home a silver in the big air category, making this her third X Games podium finish.

Zoi made history when she won the bronze medal in the women's big air at the 2018 Winter Olympics. At just 16-years-old she became the second New Zealand woman to win a medal at the Winter Olympics, and her big air qualifier saw her become the first woman to successfully land a switch backside 900 trick.

The X Games is an annual extreme sports event hosted, produced, and broadcast by ESPN. It features competitions in skiing, snowboarding and snowmobile. The prestigious, invitation-only event is considered one of the pinnacle competitions in winter sport.
