Wānaka Waterski Club members have returned from the national championships showing they are some of the country’s best.
Four club members visited Lake Karapiro earlier this month to take part in the 2023 Nautique New Zealand Waterski National Championships and returned with a huge medal haul.
Meg Harraway won gold in both the U21 Womens and Open Women's slalom, as well as a silver in the U21 and Open Women's Jump and Overall and bronze in U21 Tricks.
She was also awarded a second placing in the New Zealand Gold Star Awards, and finished her week by being named in the New Zealand team to attend the Open World Championships, which will be held in the USA in October.
It was an amazing way to cap off an “outstanding” season for Meg, the club said.

The 21-year-old rising star was also previously named in the New Zealand team to compete at the U21 World Championships which will be held in Mexico in June.
Meg's father Gerald also attended the champs and took the gold in the O45 Men's Slalom event, several courses ahead of his competition.
Sisters Genevieve and Katrina Wallis, who are members of the Woods Watersports crew, also had excellent performances at the champs, Wānaka Waterski Club said.
Genevieve received a bronze in U14 Jump and Tricks, a silver in Overall, and fourth in Slalom with a personal best and Katrina earned a silver in the U14 Slalom and Tricks with a personal best score of 1560 in the preliminary round.

Both Meg and Katrina also received Silver Star series placings, which recognises the best skiers in their age groups across the whole season (Megan in second and Katrina in third).
It was a great end to the season for the girls, who also represented New Zealand at the Oz Kiwi Challenge held at the Gateway Lakes in Albury Wodonga, Victoria in mid March.
The Wānaka Waterski Club was reincorporated in 2021 to support passionate local waterskiers.
