Water restrictions have been in place across JanuaryThe Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) has lifted water restrictions across the district following recent rain.
An alert level one restriction was applied on January 9 and extended on January 13 as the region experienced an extended dry spell. Just 4mm of rain was recorded in Wānaka in January.
Between February 2 and February 6 Wānaka experienced 14.4mm of rainfall with much more falling in the lake headwaters, and the QLDC says the water restriction can now be lifted.
In a statement the council thanked residents and visitors for their efforts in reducing water usage during the past month and encouraged ongoing water conservation where possible.
