Wanaka homes and builders have taken a slew of awards at the Registered Master Builders House of the Year Southern Region Awards this year.

The House of the Year awards is the residential building industry’s most prestigious competition, recognising excellence in craftsmanship and judging building companies’ skills amongst their peers.

Local building company Dunlop Builders was one of the numerous local winners, receiving a gold award in the new home over $2M category for their build of Lakeview House in Lake Hāwea.

“I credit our entire team for our success. They put their heart and soul into these builds and the award is a testament to their dedication and craftsmanship,” owner Bryce Dunlop said.

Dunlop Builders has won gold for every home they have entered into the competition since going into the awards in 2013.

“Our business is built on relationships, and the relationship we formed with the owners of this home was really special. We love going back to visit the house and see it brought to life,” Bryce said.

Lakeview House is a Lake Hāwea property designed by Parsonson Architects.

David Reid Homes scooped awards for two houses, which included its showhome ‘Natural Beauty’ that earned a gold award as well as the regional category winner.

Among the other local winners was FS Builders, which earned a bronze award for its construction of a 302m2 home in the $1M - $1.5M category. “With its premium fittings, space, Central Otago vistas and craftsmanship, this is a home to savour,” judges said.
