Six Wanaka building companies have received awards in the Registered Master Builders Home of the Year awards for 2021.

Home of the Year celebrates building excellence across New Zealand and the Wanaka builders won big at the Southern category awards which were held in Invercargill on Saturday night (July 25).

CDL Building, Dunlop Builders, Christie Brothers Building, Jennian Homes, Turnkey Homes and MDS all came away with awards.

The construction of a modern home in the Criffel Hills foothills earned CDL building a regional gold award (given to entrants who achieve 90 per cent of the available points and are judged to be at least 80 per cent above industry standard) and a regional lifestyle award (awarded to a home that best maximises exterior and interior living).

CDL Building took out another two awards - a regional gold award and a regional category winner award - for a 552sqm home in Mount Gold.

“I couldn't be more delighted and I'm really proud of our team,” CDL and Turnkey managing director Justin Carnie said. “We pride ourselves on both our attention-to-detail and delivering a truly excellent result, so it’s great to have that confirmed in a room full of the industry’s best.

Dunlop Builders won a regional gold award for its renovation of this Wanaka home.

The cabin earned a regional gold and a regional category award winner, while the luxury home renovation took out three awards: regional gold, regional category winner and regional supreme winner (awarded to just one home per region).

Dunlop Builders owner Bryce Dunlop said he was “extremely proud” of his team, adding that this was the second year the company has taken out the prestigious ‘supreme’ award.

“These awards are... recognition of the skill and dedication every single one of our team shows every day,” Bryce said.
