Fire and Emergency NZ (FENZ) responded to a car fire at the summit of the Crown Range this afternoon (Wednesday March 20).
A FENZ spokesperson told the Wānaka App the call - made by the owner of the vehicle - was received about 2.30pm.
“We responded with crews from Arrowtown and Frankton,” she said.
The cause of the fire appeared to be a mechanical issue and there were no injuries reported.
The car fire spread to a small amount of surrounding vegetation, resulting in about 80 square metres of fire.
The fire was extinguished by about 4pm.
