The Upper Clutha’s eligible population (12 years old and over) is now more than 93 percent fully vaccinated, with Wānaka township over 96 percent, according to the latest vaccination data from the Ministry of Health.
The data, which is accurate up to midnight on Tuesday (December 21), shows Wānaka township (96 percent fully vaccinated), Albert Town (92 percent fully vaccinated), and Cardrona (92 percent fully vaccinated) - all above the 90 percent milestone set by the government.
Rural areas including Luggate, Hāwea Flat and north of Albert Town (but excluding Lake Hāwea) are 84 percent fully vaccinated with 88 percent of the eligible population having had one dose.
Lake Hāwea is 87 percent fully vaccinated; and 90 percent have received one dose.

The data shows that 720 people who are eligible for the vaccine remain unvaccinated across the Upper Clutha.
The Southern District Health Board (SDHB) area is 93 percent fully vaccinated with 96 percent having had one dose.
Across the South Island only the West Coast is below 90 percent fully vaccinated at 86 percent, with 91 percent of the Coast’s eligible population having had one dose.
Many businesses and events will require proof of full vaccination (vaccine certificate) upon entry.
New Zealand has seen a steady decrease in Covid-19 cases since mid November.
