A “sudden death” in Lake Hāwea on Friday (March 8) is under investigation.

NZ Police told the Wānaka App today (Wednesday March 13) they had been called to a residential address at 12.30pm last Friday.

“...the scene was cordoned off for an examination which took place over the weekend,” NZ Police said.

“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries remain ongoing.”

Wānaka Police said they could not provide any additional information on the case.
