Any thoughts of an upset in the final of the 2020 touch competition were very quickly squashed with Chur Cuzzy dominating the final on Friday night (February 28).
Played in breezy and damp conditions at the showgrounds, Chur Cuzzy outclassed finalist Debz for Hair with a high calibre display of quality touch.
Chur Cuzzy went into the match as hot favourites thanks to their undefeated record across the regular season. Stand out players Tiare Murray and Reece Te Pairi were in fine form, supported by an organised and disciplined side.
Touch organiser Nathan Simon said it was great being back at the showgrounds and having use of the facilities this season.

“All funds raised this year have been given to the Showgrounds Community Trust to help with costs associated with building the new clubrooms,” Nathan said.
“I’d really like to thank the referees. This year we had a dedicated group of volunteer refs which really professionalised things and made organising so much better,” he said.
Thirty teams participated in the 14 week 2020 touch competition, with all sides playing on Friday's finals night. Wanaka Touch is sponsored by Jennian Homes Wanaka.
