Three cheers to Wastebustersb.effect Owner James Hay, Rhyme X Reason owner Simon Ross and Ground Up’s Ash Hughes are supporting ‘Wastebusters 2.0’ with special edition beers.

Wastebusters is marking its 25th anniversary by toasting to the community - with a little help from a few of Wānaka’s well known breweries.

To celebrate Wastebusters’ birthday, three Wānaka breweries have each released a special beer for the occasion.

Rhyme X Reason has brewed a South Island Hazy IPA, b.social has created a Pilsner, and Ground Up toasts the not-for-profit with a Mexican Lager.

A contribution from every beer sold will go towards ‘Wastebusters 2.0’, a community vision to expand the much-loved social enterprise for the next 25 years and beyond, Wastebusters general manager Gina Dempster said.

Supporters can back the vision directly at each brewery and learn more about Wastebusters 2.0 while raising a beer to the cause, she said.

“We are so grateful for the incredible support from Rhyme x Reason, b.effect and Ground Up and the businesses who are offering the beers to their customers,” Gina said.

“From Cardrona and Treble Cone to the many bars, cafes and hospitality businesses who have supported the beers, it shows just how much this community cares about Wastebusters’ future.”

She said Wastebusters has always been about “our community and having a good time”.

“We couldn’t imagine turning 25 without celebrating alongside some of the local legends who share these values,” Gina said.

“These Wānaka breweries have created something special not just for now but also for the future of Wasties.

“Their backing means a lot to us as we look ahead to the next 25 years.”
