Thieves targeting tradies, police warnAt least three thefts have been reported today.

Wānaka Police Senior Sergeant Fiona (Fi) Roberts has put out a warning to tradies and others to lock their vehicles and premises.

At least three thefts from unsecured vehicles have been reported in the Kirimoko/Aubrey Road area today (Tuesday September 3), Fi told the Wānaka App.

She said there has also been an increase in people reporting things missing.

“A lot of things have been taken from insecure premises or vehicles,” she said.

“There are some light fingered people out there.”

Fi said prevention is the best way to avoid being targeted by thieves.

“We need to lock things up,” she advised.

Call 111 if you need an emergency response from police; or call 105 to report things that don’t need urgent police assistance.

To make an anonymous crime report contact Crime Stoppers.
