The Food Truck at The Camp, Lake Hawea has been a regular hangout for locals and visitors alike since 1971.
Known by many as a campground, The Camp now has a Food Truck. Nestled in acres of lush forest on the shores of Lake Hawea, The Camp Food Truck is now open 7 days a week from 8am until 8pm for takeaways or dine in on-site in the spectacular lakefront setting.
Chef Brian has created a healthy, fresh and varied menu for Summer 2020 using the freshest ingredients and largely made from scratch daily by Brian and the team.
Open for breakfast, snacks, lunch or dinner, the menu includes house made muesli, croissants, salads, venison bao buns, fish and chips and a good old burger if you fancy. The team also bakes goodies daily, think muffins, scones and cinnamon scrolls, perfect with a delicious cup of Good Joe barista coffee (the only café in the South Island to have this blend).
There is plenty of space for family and friends to come Gather at The Camp and get involved in the buzz of camping life, including outdoor games and a children’s playground. You don’t have to go away to feel part of the camping community. Try your hand at fishing, they will even show you how to smoke it, or head there for a walk or ride and swing by for a feed on your way home.
The Camp also caters for groups on request and the new large geo dome 'The Beehive' will be completed early in 2021, meaning there is plenty of indoor and outdoor space for your next special occasion. Just ask one of the friendly team next time you visit.
During the busy time between 26 December and 5 January, non-guests visiting The Camp are asked to please park outside The Camp on the righthand side near the boat ramp and walk into The Camp.
Pizza Night, Sunday Night
Did someone say pizza night? Then The Camp has got you covered. Head to The Camp for pizza night every Sunday night this summer from 5pm to 8pm. Bring your own drinkies, come and hang out in the stunning grounds with friends and family and see your pizza cooked right before your eyes in the wood fired oven. The menu changes regularly and pizzas range from $12-$16.
The Camp is located on State Highway 6 just after the Hawea bridge (coming from Wanaka).
