Silver for Zoi in Big AirZoi on the podium after the Big Air competition.

Wānaka snowboarding star Zoi Sadowski-Synnott has done it again, winning another medal at the Beijing Olympics, a silver in the Big Air competition.

Zoi went into the Big Air final as the top qualifier and lived up to her favourite tag leading the competition after two runs with a combined score of 177.00 out of a possible 200.00. She was just 0.25 of a point ahead of defending gold medallist Anna Gasser (AUT).

On her third run Anna landed the first 1260 of the competition to take the lead.

Guaranteed a silver medal Zoi attempted a 1260 on her last jump but could not stick the landing.

“We’ve been in this crazy Olympic environment and I can’t really process it right now but I’m sure that once I get home and see my family and friends it’ll all kind of sink in,” Zoi told Sky Sport.

Zoi won New Zealand's first ever gold medal at a Winter Olympic Games in the slopestyle competition last week. Her silver medal today is her third Olympic medal having won bronze in Big Air at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in 2018.
