Emergency services are attending a serious crash in central Wānaka this evening.

The incident involved a car and a cyclist and was reported at 3.50pm. It is at the corner of Plantation Road and Anderson Road where a person is believed to be in a critical condition.

Emergency services were observed performing CPR.

Police, first responders and the Otago Southland Rescue helicopter are at the scene. Hato Hone St John said one ambulance, manager, and helicopter responded to the crash. Its services were not required for transportation.

Anderson Road is closed to traffic travelling from SH84, and traffic management is being put in place.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
