The semi finals of the Netball Upper Clutha A grade competition will take place tomorrow night (Friday August 13) at the Wanaka Recreation Centre.
Two weeks ago the season looked to be coming to a predictable conclusion with defending champions Hāwea undefeated and seldom tested during the round robin stage of the competition. However, the young MANC A side changed everything, beating Hāwea and signalling they were hitting their peak for the finals.
Last week's final round robin matches reinforced that the finals will be close, with Hāwea having to work hard for a 39-30 defeat of Cromwell, and MANC A and Molyneux A fighting out a 45-45 draw.
Hāwea finished top of the minor premiership and will play Cromwell (4th position) in one semi final while the other semi final will also be a rematch with the in-form MANC A (3rd position) playing Molyneux A (2nd position).
“This week's games showed that the finals will be a spectacle of netball,” Netball Upper Clutha president Tracey Gibson said.
In the playoff for fifth and sixth position Pioneer defeated Dunstan A 45-37. Both sides bowed out of the competition.
