Crown research institute Scion is currently conducting research in Wanaka on behalf of Fire and Emergency New Zealand, and local residents who take the time to fill in a survey which makes up part of the research could be rewarded with vouchers to Monkey Farm.
Scion is asking residents who are 18 years old or older and who live in northern Wanaka and Albert Town (north of Highway 84 and south of the Clutha River) to fill out the survey, which will ask them about how they view the risk of wildfire in the area.
“The aim is to help Fire and Emergency and the council better understand the community, so they can better engage and support wildfire risk mitigation,” Scion social researcher Simon Wegner told the Wanaka App.
The first 300 people who complete the survey will receive a free drink voucher to Monkey Farm restaurant, and respondents will also be eligible to enter a prize drawing for one of five $100 Monkey Farm gift vouchers.
