Refashion show highlights ‘treasure trove’ of styleThe upcoming Refashion Show will showcase pieces made by sustainable designers as well a mix of items sourced at the Wastebusters reuse shop.

Wastebusters is gearing up for the return of its annual Refashion Show later this month.

Tickets are now available for the show, which Wastebusters event organiser Abi Hurford-Abel said will be a showcase of creativity and a celebration of fashion-forward thinking.

Attendees can expect a vibrant display of repurposed and sustainably-sourced ensembles made by sustainable designers, Abi said.

“We have a real array of styles this year, everything from bright, colourful patterns to beautiful natural linens,” she said.

“We can’t wait to see what our sustainable designers have in store for us.”

In addition to the designers, the Refashion Show will highlight the treasure trove of secondhand finds discovered at Wastebusters.

“It’s a reminder of how lucky we are to live in such a stylish and sustainably-minded community,” Abi said. “And that there really is something for everyone when shopping secondhand first.”

The Refashion Show is the highlight of Wastebusters’ fifth Slow Fashion Month, dedicated to promoting sustainable fashion practices.

Throughout this month Wastebusters has been sharing valuable tips on reducing consumption, making clothes last longer, and shopping secondhand first.

Refashion attendees are encouraged to wear their favourite ‘slow fashion’ pieces to the event.

Refashion will be held at the Lake Wānaka Centre on Thursday March 21, 6pm-9pm.

Food and drink, from The Fox and Badger NZ and Rhyme X Reason, will be available to purchase at the bar.

Wastebusters‘ Refashion show is supported by the Queenstown Lakes District Council Zero Waste District Programme.
