Queenstown Lakes Covid-19 cases top 1,000Case numbers in Queenstown Lakes increased by 101 overnight.

An increase in the number of Covid-19 cases overnight has brought the total number of active cases in the district up to 1,095 today (Thursday March 3).

 

The Southern District Health Board (SDHB), which provides information about cases in the region, does not provide a breakdown of cases in Wānaka.



Across the Southern district there are 597 new cases and a total of 6,169 active cases.

 

Cases increased most significantly in Dunedin, where an additional 341 cases took the total to 4,084.

 

In Central Otago there are 145 active cases; 85 in Clutha; 80 in Gore; 325 in Invercargill; 145 in Southland; and 200 in Waitaki.

 

The SDHB reiterated the importance of getting tested only if you meet certain criteria.



“Please only get tested if you have symptoms or are a household contact of a confirmed case,” the SDHB said in a statement. 

 

“We need to ensure those who are symptomatic, or a household contact, get access to testing.”
