Queenstown Airport has advised that it is open today (Friday September 22) despite a state of emergency being declared for Queenstown.
There is no flooding at the terminal, on the runway or apron, or in the surrounding airport precinct.
Some flights could be affected by the weather today. For the latest information, travellers can check its website.
Travel from Wānaka to the airport is restricted to the Kawarau Gorge due to the closure of Cardrona Valley Road caused by flooding and slips.
Update 3pm: Cardrona Valley Road is now open.
The Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) requests that residents only travel if absolutely necessary.
