Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) has lifted water restrictions for Luggate and Wānaka, but not Hāwea.
QLDC operations manager Simon Mason thanked residents and visitors for their efforts in reducing water usage.
He asked that people continue to use water wisely.
“It might be a bit damp today but the hot, dry weather will return and it’s still very important we conserve as much water as possible, where possible,” Simon said.
The level one water restrictions began on January 9, prompted by extended periods where water was being drawn from reservoirs faster than it could be replaced.
QLDC general manager property and infrastructure Tony Avery said this was most likely associated with increased irrigation, which tends to peak in the summer months.
Simon said the level one water restrictions will remain in place for Hāwea.
Under level one, residents and visitors are to keep hand-held hosing to a minimum at all times, and to only use irrigation sprinklers between midnight and 6.00am when general demand is at its lowest.
Simon said a range of water conservation tips are available on the QLDC website.
