Progress is being made on stage five of Wānaka’s Lakefront Development Plan (LDP), which runs from the marina to just beyond the Wānaka Yacht Club.
The $2.3M project is a continuation of Te Ara Wānaka – a shared pathway from stage three (adjacent to Lakeside Road) to the yacht club and the start of the Eely Point track.
New parts of the shared pathway are now in place and “looking great”, a Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) spokesperson said.
The construction team has finished part of the pathway, created a mountable kerb, and it is working to prepare for a future retaining wall along the bank between Lakeside Road and the boat and trailer parking area.
The marina car park will be regraded to tie in with the shared pathway, and new signage, drainage, safety and urban landscaping works will also be undertaken.
Over the next few weeks, the team aims to finish timber screening on the toilet block, start installing the new retaining wall, and complete some minor asphalt parts in the marina car park, the QLDC spokesperson said.
All the works for stage five are scheduled to be completed by the end of October.
