Updated: Power was restored by 5.26am this morning (January 17).

An unplanned power outage is currently affecting parts of the Upper Clutha.

Areas impacted include Albert Town, Lake Hāwea, areas near Lake Hāwea, Makarora and The Neck.

Aurora said the incident is due to a vehicle accident and occurred at 8.17pm this evening (January 16). The outage is affecting approximately 1300 customers.

Aurora Energy said its contractors and network operations centre is working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.
