A total of 82 customers living in West Wānaka have been impacted by an unplanned power outage this morning (Friday September 13) Aurora Energy has reported.

Residents on the Wānaka-Mt Aspiring Road lost power at 1.52am which Aurora Energy said was caused by a weather-related event.

Heavy rainfall overnight turned to snow at approximately 7am.

Aurora Energy said it has a crew investigating the outage and at 8am power had been restored to the majority of homes.
