Police seek witnesses to serious Cardrona Valley Road crash

Southern District Police are seeking witnesses to the serious crash that occurred yesterday (Wednesday September 3) on Cardrona Valley Road.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 4pm, where multiple vehicles were involved and several people sustained serious injuries. The road was closed for a number of hours while emergency crews responded and the Serious Crash Unit carried out an examination.

Area response manager Senior Sergeant Fiona Roberts said police would like to hear from anyone who saw the accident or the manner of driving beforehand.

“If you have any information that could assist police, please contact us via 105, either over the phone or online, and quote file number 250904/6697,” she said.

Information can also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.

Fiona said police appreciated the patience of motorists caught up in yesterday’s road closures.

The road is reduced to one lane this afternoon while enquiries continue.

“It is important we all do everything we can to prevent lives being lost on our roads. Please make sure everyone in your vehicle is safely restrained, drive at a safe speed for the conditions, put your cell phone away, and ensure you’re free of fatigue, alcohol and drugs,” Fiona said.
