Nominations open for Youth Volunteer AwardsThis year’s supreme winner will receive a family sightseeing pass to Cardrona Alpine Resort.

Do you know an 11 to 18-year-old from the Upper Clutha who has gone out of their way to do good, volunteer, or be a generally awesome person in the community?

If so, make sure to nominate them for the upcoming Youth Volunteer Awards.

The awards ceremony is being organised by the Upper Clutha Youth Council in liaison with Kahu Youth and will be held at Rippon Hall on November 30.

“As youth ourselves, we feel it is extremely important to reward the many hours of service our young people give around our community that make such a difference to many lives though not always in an obvious way,” Upper Clutha Youth Council chairwoman Danielle Carney said.

Danielle is encouraging people to nominate young people they think have made a difference by volunteering their time over the past 12 months.

“Our goal this year is to have as many young people as possible acknowledged and rewarded for their efforts,” Danielle said.

Awards are allocated to high school students aged 12 and under, 14 and under, 16 and under and 18 and under.

Prizes have been supported by local businesses such as Cinema Paradiso, Paddle Wānaka, and Red Star, and the supreme winner will receive a family sightseeing pass at Cardrona Alpine Resort.

If you know someone that has done good in the community, nominate them here. There is no restriction on how many people a person can nominate.

The Upper Clutha Youth Council was founded in 2015 by five year 9 students and has grown to a council of 20 students from years 7-10.
