Nigel Latta will visit Lake Hāwea as part of his ‘Resilience’ tour later this month, with financial support from Central Lakes Trust and Pioneer Energy.

“2020 has been a tough year, there is no doubt about it,” CLT chief executive Susan Finlay said. 

“Our ability to recover readily from illness, depression, adversity and the like is a very fitting topic...Supporting our community with some resilience building, can only be a good thing.”

Nigel Latta is a psychologist and author well-known around the country for his engaging style and work as a TV show host. He has hosted Beyond the Darklands, The Politically Incorrect Guide to Teenagers and The Politically Incorrect Parenting Show. 

For the tour, Nigel will be visiting communities around the region to talk about how to build resilience.

In the wake of this year, in a region Susan says “has perhaps done it especially tough”, the talk will be a way to learn more about mental health.

“What better way to do that than to take some time out for an evening with Nigel Latta,” she said.

Entry to the event will be a gold coin donation at the door, with all proceeds going to Volunteering South. 

“Volunteering South was at the coal face of the region’s response to COVID-19, it seems only apt to return any proceeds to a group that were there for us all when we needed them most this year,” Susan said.

There are limited numbers, so it’s a first in, first-served basis.

The tour visits the wider Central Lakes region: it commences after Labour Day, with an evening in Alexandra on October 27, then Lake Hāwea on October 28, and Arrowtown on October 30.
