A swimmer has been reported missing in Lake Wānaka this evening (Thursday November 24) after failing to resurface.

Emergency services were called about 6.50pm.

The area around the swimming platform off the waterfront has been searched, however the person has not been recovered, the police said in a statement.

The Police National Dive Squad has been notified and is expected to attend tomorrow.
