Meg Harraway named in New Zealand waterski teamMeg in action on the water at the 2022 NZ Waterski Nationals.

Wānaka waterskier Meg Harraway has been selected to represent New Zealand at the International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) 2022 Waterski Oceania Championships.

Her selection follows excellent results at the New Zealand Waterski Nationals in March and the New Zealand Junior Masters in Northland on ANZAC weekend.

The championships will be held at Max Kirwan Lakes in Mulwala, Australia, from November 17-20.

Twenty-year-old Meg is currently ranked as NZ's Number 1 Open Women’s slalom skier and is sponsored by D3 Skis NZ, Harraway Building and Soak Day Spa Wānaka.

She has previously represented New Zealand in 2018 at the Under 17 Junior World Waterski Championships in Spain; and the Oz v Kiwi Challenges in 2020 (Lake Crichton, Canterbury), 2019 (Myuna Bay, NSW), 2018 (Lake Wiritoa, Whanganui), 2017 (Myuna Bay, NSW) and 2017 (Piarere, Waikato).

Meg will represent New Zealand at the IWWF champs alongside fellow Kiwis athletes Courtney Williams (Northland), Jack Silver (Wellington), George Donaldson (Canterbury), Alex King and Hilary Munro (both based overseas).

The Wānaka Waterski Club was re-incorporated in 2021 to support and encourage local waterskiers. A recent Lion Foundation grant enabled the club to maintain its two slalom courses, located in Paddock and Parkins Bays.
