Fabulous giant-scale glow-in-the-dark puppets are coming to the Lake Wānaka Centre in July.
Described as wildly flamboyant and additively toe-tapping, the puppets are touring New Zealand as part of the Matariki Glow Show.
The show tells the story of te kāhui whetu o Matariki (the star cluster of Matariki) as they gather to light up the skies for the Māori New Year.
This mythical tale is brought to life through unique puppets, which glow under UV lights in a black box theatre.
Told in both te reo and English the Matariki Glow Show educates as it entertains, with its cutting-edge concept, upbeat original soundtrack, and themes of whakawhanaungatanga, friendship and togetherness.

Organisers say it offers a memorable experience with positive and uplifting messages for tamariki.
The Matariki Glow Show is the latest live performance series from Sarah Burren, who created the concept in 2017 and has toured New Zealand with it annually since.
The Glow Show dramaturg Midge Perez brings years of experience as a performer, producer, writer and director for stage, film and television. The show is directed by Rokalani Lavea, a performer across dance, music, screen and theatre.
The show is performing at the Lake Wānaka Centre on Thursday July 7 with two different shows; a concise version for under fives, and a longer version with Q&A for six to 12-year-olds.
