Marlon Williams, Dimension join R&A lineupAcclaimed NZ singer-songwriter Marlon Williams, who has performed at Wānaka’s Tuki Festival, will perform at Rhythm & Alps on New Year’s Eve.

Rhythm & Alps has released a stacked New Year’s Eve lineup featuring Molly Payton, Marlon Williams, Sampa The Great, Dope Lemon, King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard, KORA and Dimension (DJ Set).

The lineup brings together some of New Zealand’s best performers - like KORA and Marlon Williams - alongside some of the top acts from around the world.

This is the first time since 2020 that international artists have performed at the three-day Cardrona Valley festival and organisers say they plan to make it bigger and better than ever.

“The 2022 festival is undergoing some epic updates to its stages, the notorious Fridge is getting a makeover and relaunching as the Boombox and the iconic Buddha stage is taking a rest,” organisers said in a statement.

“The electronic Wild Things is being rebranded as Sonarchy and will be New Zealand's most dynamic new stage incorporating video and laser mapping, a first for Aotearoa.”

Rhythm and Alps is a three-day annual festival in the Cardrona Valley.

In addition, organisers announced that agency Sugar & Spice would present at the Log Cabin venue in December and house and techno label Beat and Path on New Year’s Eve.

The latest additions follow an initial lineup drop in August.

Annually Rhythm & Alps attracts around 10,000 partygoers and more than 6,000 campers.

Electronic duo Cosmos Midnight will also perform.

More than 40 percent of the people who attend come from outside the region, helping bring a significant increase in regional spending to Wānaka and surrounding areas.

The festival, which runs from December 29 to January 1, will be taking place for the 12th time this year.
